iN THE BOOK YOU’LL FIND A RECIPE
RESIDENCY, NARTURE CIC
For Narture CIC’s Blank Canvas residency series, Christina turned their MAKE studio on Newmarket Street, Ayr into a space for shared food stories and quiet, thoughtful making. The residency centred on building a collective recipe book, inviting visitors to drop in and contribute their recipes. The recipe book is a gathering of voices: a record of how food carries place, family, and experience.
Local people were welcomed in to share their favourite recipes, cooking tips and food memories. Their recipes are accompanied by still life photographs of ingredients found within them, which were developed and printed in Narture’s darkroom. The book celebrates value of community knowledge sharing during times of climate, cost‑of‑living and misinformation crises.
Alongside this growing archive, Christina hosted three workshops exploring food as a creative starting point. Participants made folded zines, stitched pamphlets and cyanotype prints, each session celebrating ingredients from the natural world.
The residency title, in the book you’ll find a recipe, is taken from the book Miss O’Keeffe, a biography of artist and enthusiastic cook Georgia O’Keeffe by Christine Taylor-Patten and Alvaro Cardona-Hine.
