Snorkelling Artist Residency, Argyll Hope Spot
Hope Spots are a global initiative from Mission Blue, celebrating marine areas across the world which have been sientifically identified as critical to the health of the ocean. One of these is situated on the west coast of Scotland in Argyll. The Argyll Hope Spot snorkelling artist’s residency brought ten artists together to go underwater and respond to the habitats and species encountered there.
Work made from the Argyll Hope Spot residency — pen an ink illustrations, seagrass stitched in hessian — was exhibited at The Rockfield Centre, Oban in February 2022 alongside a specially curated Nature Library collection.
The Same Sunlight, a series of micro-essays responding to the species encountered within the Hope Spot, was published in issue 30 of Gutter Magazine.
