In November 2020 I began a new daily photography project, following on from The Beach Today’s beachcombing collections. Visiting a pebble beach every day and noticing the shifting colours of sea and sky as well as the variety of colours and patterns of the shingle, I began thinking that even on this small beach, there must be a pebble to match every sky.

In 2021 these stones and skies continue to provide endless fascination in the edge of the sea, warping if not completely disassembling the human concept of time. As the colours and temperament of the sea changes throughout the seasons, the water tumbles more and more stones to the surface; some of them polished smooth as glass, others holding the fossils of ancient creatures or carved by animals like tiny sculptures.

The photographs were posted daily on Twitter, and are gradually being archived on Instagram.
